Welcome to Kindness After Chaos—
a calming space born from the storm.
As someone who grew up with undiagnosed anxiety and depression, I faced not only my own challenges, but also watched several friends and family members struggle due to the stigma forcing silence upon the topic of mental health. Now that I’m in my late 20’s, I want to do something to help shake the narrative.
Looking back, I realized 2 things:
1. Talking can be extremely difficult for people of all ages and from all places.
2. Support and encouragement don’t always require sound.
Motivational quotes on bumper stickers; ‘You’re Not Alone’ on a passing stranger’s hoodie; printer paper taped to a phone pole titled ‘Take What You Need’, its bottom cut into strips saying ‘Courage’, ‘Love’, ‘Kindness’, etc.
The stigma about mental health is sadly still very real and very dangerous, but a quiet resistance is catching fire. When words are too hard to say, wearing them can have just as great an impact. This is why I created Kindness After Chaos.
Mental health struggles might never disappear, but the people fighting them don’t have to either. Wearing a simple phrase or image not only shows your support for those fighting the monsters in their minds, but it can be the subtle reminder to keep going that helps a stranger, a loved one, or even yourself to step back from the edge.
I would know. In 2015, a strip of paper that said ‘Hope’ is what kept me from stepping off mine.
Spread the Word; Wear the Love.
Let’s make a future where support can’t be silenced.
